Cal Poly International Exchange Programs offer students opportunities to study their academic disciplines at partner universities for up to one year.
University of Canberra offers students in the College of Liberal Arts, Architecture and Landscape Architecture the ability to take relevant courses while studying in Canberra, Australia, for a semester or year.

The Canberra campus, situated in the suburb of Bruce, is the university's primary Campus. On exchange at Canberra, students are able to take Architecture or Landscape Architecture courses. You will earn transfer credit on this program.
Students are highly encouraged to get their Major, Minor, and GE courses pre-approved prior to applying to the Exchange program.
: Provide course descriptions to your Academic Advising Center/Faculty Contact to determine course equivalencies and how credits will transfer back. Students are highly encouraged to consult an Academic/Faculty Advisor about completing any necessary course approval paperwork prior to studying abroad.
For Architecture students, You are required to take a minimum of _ 12 units overall
Of those 12 units. 6 units will be your design studio course which will satisfy your Cal Poly Arch 451
- 8399 Design Studio 3.1 (Architecture) = 6 credit points, Level 3
Of the same 12 units. 3 units will be your Cal Poly Arch 420
- 8403 Capital Cities and Urban Form = 3 credit points, Level 3
Of the same 12 units. the final 3 units will be an elective that could potentially suffice your Cal Poly Arch 445 requirement
- 8411 History of Australian Architecture (Post Graduate) = 3 credit points, Level P
This final course needs to be a 3 credit point course at Level 3 or higher, Level P (postgraduate) is acceptable as well. Some students have taken digital media courses in the past. I think it’s a good idea to choose this course with your thesis in mind. Some students have used this time and subject matter to begin directing their thoughts towards their final year at Poly.

How to Apply
The Cal Poly application will ask you to submit the following supplemental materials:
- Letter of Recommendation from a Cal Poly faculty member
- Personal Statement
- Official Transcript
- Copy of your Passport
The advisors for this program will review all applications after the application date has passed. Students will then be contacted to participate in an in-person group interview. Upon completion of the interview and full application review, students will be notified if they have been approved by Cal Poly to participate in the Canberra exchange program.
