Cal Poly Partner Programs
are administered by study abroad program providers that have been approved by Cal Poly for transfer credit by virtue of their high quality of support services and academic rigor. These programs are accessible to college students from many U.S. universities, including Cal Poly. Partner Program options are available in a wide variety of locations for a summer, semester, academic year; there are also short-term, internship, and virtual partner programs available.

SAS (Semester at Sea)

Varies: each voyage goes to at least 10 countries and 4 continents Our program  allows students to travel and grow with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in every port. Go to class while sailing the sea, watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean or stare up at the Mediterranean stars. Whether in class, studying, or engaging in shipboard activities, you’re always a few steps away from friends, the ocean and a global perspective.

SIT programs are developed around a framework of the most critical global issues (CGIs) of the day. Our programs are interdisciplinary and appropriate for a variety of majors. Most programs address two CGIs within specific cultural and geographical contexts or comparatively across several countries and continents.

Wildlands Studies

Varies: past programs have occured in countries such as Chile, Costa Rica, Greece, Hawaii, Iceland, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Thailand, and other locations.  For forty years, Wildlands Studies has offered exciting and challenging opportunities. Our field studies programs put you in the field. Hike across mountain meadows, ford streams and camp in the forest. Swim in warm ocean waters and examine coral reefs and sea life. Experience nature in the wild. Our faculty use a mix of teaching methods from formal lecture to informal hands-on instruction in settings that span backcountry excursions, information exchanges with local experts and participation in key community events.
